What “unit price” means on our labels

The German price indication regulation requires that goods sold by weight or volume also state the unit price — that is, the price per kilogram or litre. It sounds like bureaucracy, but it is the only tool that lets you genuinely compare a 250 g bag with a 1 kg one. With us the unit price appears on the card, in the list and in the basket, and it changes along with any running promotion.
